What to see around Garachico: Some ideas for visits in the northwest of Tenerife

Located on the northwest coast of Tenerife, the village of Garachico is an excellent starting point to discover this part of the island. Between volcanic landscapes, traditional villages and hiking trails, the region offers many opportunities for excursions.

Formed by lava during the eruption of 1706, the natural pools of El Caletón in Garachico itself or those of Los Silos, a little further west, offer a spectacular setting to swim facing the ocean.












2. Buenavista del Norte and the tip of Teno


This peaceful village marks the entrance to the Teno Massif, with a beautiful central square, a historic church and an authentic atmosphere. It is also a good starting point to get by bus to the tip of Teno, at the northwest end of Tenerife.



The Teno massif offers some of the most spectacular landscapes on the island, with its steep cliffs, scenic roads and remote villages such as the perched hamlet of Masca.

Less frequented than the Teide National Park, these volcanic landscapes offer beautiful hikes through lava flows and pine forests.

5. Icod de los Vinos


This small town is known to be home to the famous millennial dragon, Drago Milenario.

6. The vineyards of northern Tenerife and the guachinches


The area around Garachico is also known for its volcanic vineyards and small traditional restaurants called guachinches.
